Welcome to my new programme of willow weaving workshops suitable for all levels of skill from beginners to those with some experience. Weaving with willow requires a reasonable level of manual dexterity and strength so if in doubt please contact me for advice.

Workshops will be held in Maesbrook Village Hall SY10 8QW which has parking and disabled access.
Group sizes will be small and the aim of each workshop is to enjoy working with natural materials in a relaxed and creative atmosphere.
All materials, hot drinks and cakes will be provided but you will need to bring your own lunch.

Hedgerow Basket
Friday 6 March 9.30-4.30pm £50

You will be able weave using a range of materials – willow, dogwood, privet, hop, vinca, ivy, silver birch… to create a rustic basket.  You are welcome to bring along any flexible material that you have harvested from your garden.

Roost Pockets
Saturday 7 March 10-4pm £50

Suitable for beginners these willow roost pockets help our feathered friends. Hang them in the garden to provide a shelter or fill them with moss or wool as a source of nesting material.

Obelisk-plant supports
Fri 27 March  9.30-12.30pm  or  1.30-4.30pm £50 per session

Woven willow obelisks or wigwams provide structure and interest in the garden while supporting climbing plants like beans or sweet pea.
If you would prefer to make a cloche style support please let me know when you book.

Random Weave bowl or basket
Saturday 28 March 10-4pm £50

Working with the bright colours and flexibility of freshly cut ‘green’ willow you can have fun making baskets suitable for bulbs or even Easter egg nests.

Fruit bowl – round basket  – limited spaces
Monday 30 March  9.30 – 4.30pm £50

This workshop is suitable for those with some weaving experience as we will use 5 rod wale and semi green willow to create an open basket or bowl.

Simple Frame Gathering Basket – limited spaces
Friday 10 April  9.30-4.30pm £50

One of the oldest forms of basket we will weave around hoops and ribs to create a functional and attractive gathering basket. This basket requires good manual strength and dexterity.

Flowers & Petals
Thursday 14 May 10.00-4pm £50

Suitable for beginners when you will learn more about this beautiful material as well as some fundamentals of willow weaving. You can let your creativity take hold as you weave willow flowers and seed heads to decorate your garden or wall.

Swallows & Swifts
Thursday 28 May 10-3pm £50

A perfect introduction to willow weaving where you will use a simple flat weaving technique to create a swift or swallow or maybe even a house martin. Spend the day creating a gulp of swallows or a scream of swifts which will look great soaring across a wall.

Simple Trug

Suitable for those with some experience of making a frame basket.  This basket is perfect for gathering garden produce or cut flowers.
