A new year and lots of lovely willow weaving workshops
All workshops will be held in Maesbrook Village Hall SY10 8QW
Workshop numbers are small to make sure everyone gets the support and attention they need in order to complete their project.
Drinks and cake are provided at all workshops. For full day workshops you will need to bring your own lunch .

Plants supports- obelisks and cloches
Fri 12 April 9.30-12.30 or 2-5pm £50 per session
Sat 20 April 9.30-12.30 or 2-5pm £50 per session
Willow plant supports are an attractive addition to any garden. You can weave a tall obelisk suitable for climbers or make a cloche to support peonies or other herbaceous plants.

Small Willow Basket or bowl – sorry fully booked
Sat 13 April 9.30-4pm £50
A full day workshop when you will work with willow and other hedgerow materials to create a small bowl or basket. Traditional weaving skills will be used and a simple handle may be added.
Hot drinks will be provided but you will need to bring lunch.

Frame Gathering Baskets – sorry fully booked
Fri 19 April 9.30-4pm £50
This workshop will focus on the skills and techniques used to make a traditional frame basket. Weaving around willow hoops you will create an open or closed style of gathering basket. These attractive baskets are ideal for collecting eggs or when harvesting fruit and vegetables.
Hot drinks will be provided but you will need to bring a packed lunch

Catalan Tension Tray or Bread Basket – sorry fully booked 25 April 9.30-4pm £50
A full day workshop when you will be able to make two tension trays or work on one Catalan base and weave sides to create a shallow basket ideal for bread or rolls. Based on the Catalan technique for making basket bases – rods are woven over a frame and ribs to create a firm tray or trivet. Depending on size they can make beautiful fruit or bread platters, heat proof trivet or a coaster for your favourite mug or teapot.
Hot drinks will be provided but you will need to bring lunch.

Plates & Platters – Fri 17 May 10-4pm £50
Willow plates are rustic and useful for serving bread, fruit or biscuits. Different shapes can be created depending on the frame use – rectangular, leaf shaped or even using a natural forked branch.
Hot drinks will be provided but you will need to bring lunch.

Enjoy a full day of weaving and stay for the afternoon for the afternoon spiral session £50
A creative morning using flat weave to make attractive willow decorations whether fish, soaring swallows or twinkling stars.

Dragonflies & Spirals
Sat 18 May 1.30-4.30pm £30 per session
Come for the morning session too and save £10 it’s £50 the day
Master spiral weaving and create a dancing dragonfly, ‘bullrush’ cane toppers or even a swirling wind spiral.

A series of taster sessions introducing different weaving techniques. Each stand alone session will focus on a new skill to help you enjoy working with willow and other flexible materials.

Let your creativity flow and spend a day creating willow, flowers and seedheads to decorate your garden. You can use lots of different weaving techniques to create your bouquet.
